Why PMDD is a Gift (Yes, Really)

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could just turn this off”, you’re not alone. PMDD is exhausting. It’s disruptive. But what if it’s actually trying to help you?

PMDD is Your Body Talking to You

Your cycle doesn’t just happen to you. It’s constantly sending signals about what’s working in your life and what isn’t. PMDD is like an alarm system—it goes off when something is out of balance.

The rage? It’s showing you where your boundaries are being crossed.
The anxiety? It’s pushing you to slow down and rest.
The sadness? It’s revealing what’s really going on beneath the surface.

How to Work WITH PMDD Instead of Against It

1️⃣ Listen to what it’s telling you – Instead of fighting the symptoms, get curious. What’s triggering them?
2️⃣ Adjust your life accordingly – If PMDD makes you hate your job, maybe your job actually isn’t right for you. If certain people trigger you every month, maybe they’re not great for your mental health.
3️⃣ Honour your natural cycle – Your body isn’t broken. It’s asking you to slow down, change things up, and take better care of yourself.

Reframing PMDD

What if, instead of hating your cycle, you used it as a guide?

  • Your luteal phase (PMDD time) = your truth detector. It’s when your body tells you what’s real.

  • Your follicular phase (post-period) = your action phase. Use this time to make changes based on what PMDD showed you.

PMDD isn’t your enemy. It’s your compass. When you stop fighting it and start listening, it can actually lead you to a life that works better for you.
